This wedding countdown calendar features helpful tips to help plan your wedding from 12 months to the wedding day

12 Months

Engagement announcement, choose your wedding theme and style, which includes attire ideas, budget your wedding and reception, decide how many guests, choose a  wedding planner; photographer, videographer, DJs, bands, ceremony musicians. 

11 Months

Select a caterer, research florist, reserve location for ceremony and reception, visit bridal stores, choose wedding party, meet with ceremony official, budget your honey moon.

10 Months

Obtain necessary permits for outdoor ceremony or reception, order your gown, discuss the duties of your maid of honor and bridesmaids.

9 Months

Gift registry, notify vendors of your wedding theme, decide on menu, prepare a music selection list for your wedding and reception, do some research on hotel, car rental and airline tickets for guests. 

8 Months

First gown fitting, order bridesmaid dresses and accessories, visit jewelers for wedding rings, select florists and notify them of your wedding theme.

7 Months

Go over details with your wedding planner, bridesmaids dress fittings, groomsmen visit local formalwear stores, attire for flower girl and ring bearer, finalize order for invitations, table cards and thank you notes, book hotel rooms for guests, order wedding rings, purchase any additional bridal accessories such as jewelry, lingerie, order rose petals, confetti or birdseed for guests to throw after the wedding ceremony.

6 Months

Discuss what type of honeymoon you want and consult a travel agent for suggestions.

5 Months

Place your order for the ceremony programs, finalize plans for the honeymoon, place order for wedding cake, make reservations for rehearsal dinner and select a menu.

4 Months

Address invitations, decide on wedding vows, finalize orders for the groom and groomsmen attire, finalize reservations for honeymoon and make any necessary deposits.

3 Months

Make reservations for a post wedding brunch, make bachelorette party plans with your attendants, plan bridesmaid's luncheon or dinner, discuss with your hairdresser your wedding hairstyle, review your registry, create hotel maps and information cards for guests. 

2 Months

Mail wedding invitations, final attire fitting for bride and groom, gifts for wedding party members, transportation arrangements for bride and groom from the ceremony to reception, purchase unity candle for the ceremony, purchase any accessories such as wineglasses and cake server for the reception.

6 Weeks

Purchase camera if needed, mail out rehearsal dinner invitations, send out thank you notes as need be, confirm your music selections for the ceremony and reception, decided on post wedding brunch menu, notify newspapers of  your announcement, purchase a gift for your spouse-to-be, purchase wedding favors, make appointment with hair saloon.

4 Weeks

Contact florist to confirm delivery times, assign duties to ushers for ceremony and reception, finalize details of your ceremony and reception, which include programs, musicians, seating arrangements for guests, photographer, videographer, transportation to the airport, the care of house plants or pets while you're away. Arrange for return of groom's formalwear. Post picture and announcement on website.

3 Weeks

Finalize your guest list, review  details with caterer, finalize details with florist as far as delivery and placement of flowers, call anyone who hasn't responded to their invitation.

1 Week

Confirm reservations for honeymoon, start packing for honeymoon, get traveler's checks, pick up wedding party dresses and or tuxedos.

Wedding day

Make sure you eat before your ceremony, see your hairdresser, give yourself plenty of time to prepare and enjoy your day!

3 Days after your wedding

Make arrangements for the transportation of your gifts, mail thank you notes. 

Upon return of your honeymoon

Have wedding gown dry cleaned and preserved. Submit your name-change forms for important documents such as: driver's license, passport, Social Security card, state and federal tax boards, banks and credit cards.
